SISTER THERESE BRULE (SR ST. REMI) After a long and courageous struggle with cancer, Therese Brule passed away peacefully at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2004. She is now delivered forever from suffering and is in Gods eternal bliss. At the time of her death Therese had been General Superior of the Missionary Oblate Sisters for seven years. She was surrounded with affection and compassion by the sisters of the Congregation and by her beloved family. Therese was born on July 17, 1933 at Ile-des-Chenes, MB. She was the oldest of nine children. Her father, Honore Brule was from St. Joseph, MB and was a carpenter by trade. Her mother, Olive dAuteuil, was from Ile-des-Chenes. Therese was predeceased by her parents and by her two brothers, Fernand (1997) and Michel (1952). She will be missed by many and especially by the members of her Congregation and family members, her four brothers and their spouses, Jean (Monique Lafleche), Lucien (Louise Petit), Jerome (Doreen Haddock), Paul (Doreen Heindel) and her two sisters and spouses, Germaine (Charles Van de Kerkhove), Celine (Gerard Lafleche), Sylvia Brule; a sister-in-law (the late Fernand) and many nephews and nieces. The Brule family took abode in Ile-des-Chenes where Therese attended elementary school. She then completed high school as a resident of St. Charles Convent under the direction of the Missionary Oblate Sisters. Therese entered the Congregation of the Missionary Oblate Sisters on February 18, 1952 and pronounced her first vows on August 18, 1954. Her motto was: "You shall love". She was given countless opportunities to put that motto into practice, through the many services she was called upon to fulfil during her religious life: teacher, directress of institutions, general counsellor and secretary, General Superior from 1997 to 2004. The responsibilities she was entrusted with speak loudly and clearly that she was a woman of God. Prayers were recited on Saturday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Missionary Oblate Sisters, 601 Aulneau St. Funeral service was held on the same day at the same address at 11:00 a.m. His Excellence Bishop Noel Delaquis presided the celebration. Interment of the ashes has taken place on Monday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m. in the cemetery on Archibald Street. The Cropo Funeral Chapel was in charge of the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Therese can be sent to the Aulneau Renewal Centre, 601 Aulneau St., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2V5. The Aulneau Renewal Centre is a counselling centre founded by the Missionary Oblate Sisters.
